CRAZY SHOW
A WILLIAMSON PRODUCTION “Crapy Show,” the London Palladium production which is to be presented] at the Empire Theatre on Thursday, April 16th, by the Great Levants, by arrangement with J. C. Williamson Theatres Ltd., achieved an electrical success on its initial production in Auckland, and the following morning there was a sensational demand flor seats, practically the whole theatre being booked out for the remained of the season. “Crazy Show” owes its popularity to the clever and original] comedy scenes and sketches, none ofl which have been previously produced in New Zealand. The comedians at each performance made the audience) rock in their seats with, laughter, and evidently “Crazy Show” is one ojf the most humorous productions ever staged in New Zealand. The leading comedians, who have become known ais the Crazy Gang, are Mr Ronald Shand, Mr Robert Butt, Mr Joe Valli, Mr Lawrie Long, Mr Joe Corelli ajnd Mr Ed. Edwards. A tower of strength to the company is the brilliant I work of the dashing young comedienne, Miss Doris Whimp,* who has became an established favourite with playgoers of New Zealand. Miss Ursula I rving’s fine soprano voice is heard to advantage in “My Hero” and other well known numbers, and Miss Esme Levante performs on the violin in the musical scene with Gladys Cole (piano accordion) and Gordon Girdwood (guitar). Of course, one of the outstanding features in “Crazy Show” is the Great Levante, who devised and produced the production: The box plan will be opened at Gifford’s on Monday next.
