BARBED WIRE
NEEDED BY THE MILITARY AN URGENT APPEAL The military authorities are in urgent need of barbed wire, and in this connection the secretary to the Te Awamutu branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, Mr C. J. Flay, has to-day issued an appeal to all farmers to assist in this vital phase of the war effort. Mr Flay advises all farmers who have unused barbed wire on hand to get into immediate communication with the officer commanding the local Home Guard company or with any member of the Executive of the Union, when confidential details of the military requirements will be given. It may be stated that it is not intended, meanwhile, to take barbed wire off existing fences.
