WEDDING BELLS

TURNEY—GOODWIN A charmingly pretty wedding took place at St. Patrick’s Church, Te Awamutu, on 17th March last, when Rachael Mary, only daughter of Mr F. J. Goodwin and the late Mrs Goodwin, was married to John Michael, second son of Mr and Mrs John Turney, of Ohaupo. Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Rev. Father Colgan, and organ music was played by Mr Nelson Winch. A choir of children from the Convent School (of which both bride and groom were former pupils) rendered appropriate hymns. The altar had been artistically decorated by the Sisters of St. Joseph. The bride, who was given away by her brother, (Mr Pat Goodwin), was attired in a graceful low-waisted gown of magnolia embossed satin with a high neckline. The skirt was fashioned to form a rounded train, while the embroidered tulle veil, held in place by a pearl-trimmed halo, fell to form a second train. She wore a necklet of pearls and carried a bouquet of white lilies, carnations, and cyclamen. The bridesmaids, Miss Eileen Turney, of Auckland, and Miss Norah Turney, of Ohaupo, wore similar frocks of Alice blue taffeta and large blue crinoline picture hats laced with cyclamen velvet ribbon. Both wore novelty r-xk-lets and armlets of cyclamen, and carried bouquets of cyclamen dahlias and carnations. Attendant on the groom were Mr Brian Quin, of Ma; ngapiko, as best man and Mr Mannix Monahan, of Ohaupo, as groomsman. At a reception held in the Momona Tea Rooms the guests were received by Mrs Monahan, aunt of the bride, who wore a navy tailored costume with navy accessories. She was assisted by Mrs Turney, mother of the bridegroom, in a smart ensemble of navy sheer with accessories to match. When the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon the bride chose a black and white model suit with black accessories. They will make their home in the Ohaupo district.
