THE WAIPA ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of delegates to the Waipa Cricket Association was held on Monday evening, when there were present: Messrs W. Whitton (chairman), R. H. Westbrook, G Lawrie, A. Boyd, J. Tarr, A. Elliott. J. Basten, I. Clarke, J. Askew and L Arnold. ANNUAL REPORT. The secretary presented the annual report as follows: “The 1940-41 season, just passed, was rather uneventful. Eight teams competed, three in the town and five in the. country. War claimed several of our players. In our challenge for the Waikato Shield, we had one of those ‘black days’ sometimes experienced by teams and our showing was not a true indication of our worth. Te Kuiti’s hospitality was very generous and I personally was able to thank them on behalf of our Association at a smoke concert held that evening. Owing to benzine restrictions representative games are harder to obtain, but if the Association would like more games, I will do my utmost to promote same. Financially we are very sound. The Walker Cup was not competed for, Paterangi and Waikeria being unable to arrange a suitable date. I would like to condole with those parents whose sons (former playing members of the Association) have been killed, missing, become prisoners of war or have been wounded, whilst upholding the fort for Freedom. Thanking all committeemen for their help and co-operation during the past season. It is a great pleasure personally to help the game in any way.” ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
