DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL. MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. * The usual monthly meeting of the Te Awamutu District High School Committee was held on Monday evening, Mr G. B. Melrose (chairman) presiding, and Messrs S. H. West, G. Donaldson, L. C. Day, W. S. Earwaker, C. W. Old, and L. W. Spence being present. Mr W. G. S. Smith, headmaster, was also in attendance. The chairman pointed out the delay in the work of sealing the basketbail court, and it was decided to ask for action in the near future. The Committee complimented the boys of the school on the improvements to the front fence, and authorised a further expenditure on paint for the pipes in the fence. This headmaster reported on change of times in running buses to suit winter conditions, and the Committee unanimously agreed that the experience in their districts was highly satisfactory. CHILREN’S FINE GESTURE. A cheque for £2O was handed in from the school as a result of a collection in aid of the Crippled Children’s Fund. The Committee expressed the utmost gratification with this splendid effort, and congratulated the school on its generous gift. Correspondence was read following a move by the Committee to have a presentation made to Mr Dunlop, retiring secretary to the Education Board, by the Auckland School Committees’ Association. The Auckland Association endorsed the idea, and said action was consequently being taken. The Committee decided to make a contribution to the presentation fund. Accounts amounting to £3B 15s 4d were passed for payment. Mr G. Donaldson was appointed deputy chairman of the Committee.
