BOY SCOUTS

USE OF GRANDSTAND. RENTAL REDUCED. At .the request of Mrs N. Winch (hon. secretary of the Boy Scout movement in Te Awamutu), the Te Awamutu Domain Board, at its meeting on Monday night, agreed to reduce the rental of the grandstand in Albert Park, used once a week for three hours by the Scouts, to £5 per annum. Mrs Winch, in her letter, stated that all the work in connection with the movement was performed voluntarily. The Scouts used the hall for three hours one night a week in winter, but, in summer time, exercised this privilege only if it were wet. The past year’s rent of £lO was due and she asked that a reduction in the account be made. Mr Les. S. Armstrong said the Boy Scouts was a worthy “turn-out” which had performed good w’ork in the past and which might be called upon in the future to do more. The Home Guard got the grandstand free and he thought the application should be considered very favourably, especially as the Scouts had to virtually raise theii own means of finance. Mr A. R. Hill moved and Mr Parsons seconded that the past account be reduced to £5 and that in future the rental be £5 per annum. The motion was carried.
