OBITUARY

MRS MARY SHERLEY. The death occurred at Auckland on Sunday, after a brief illness, of Mrs Mary Sherley, aged 92. The late Mrs Sherley was born in Windsor, England, and came to New Zealand in the ship Jura, with her parents 80 years ago. She married Mr James Sherley, of Rangiriri, and lived there for many, years. She was well known throughout the Auckland and Waikato disticts, having resided at Ponsonby and later at Putaruru, Lichfield and Okoroire. Her husband died 36 years ago. Mrs Sherley is survived by two daughters, Mrs P. Turnbull, of Papatoetoe, and Mrs E. J. Buttimore, of Cambridge, and two sons, Messrs C. R. Sherley, of Te Awamutu, and Mr C. F. Sherley, of Warkworth. There are 29 grand-children and 12 great-grand-children. MR H. H. E. WATTS. The death has occurred in Auckland of Mr Henry Herbert Eric Watts, of Hauturu, Kawhia, aged 46. Born at Sevenoaks, in Kent, Mr Watts was educated at the Maidstone Grammar School, and at 18 joined the Territorial Force. Shortly after the outbreak of the Great War he was drafted to France, where he served in the Royal Army Medical Corps throughout the war. He came to New Zealand in 1923 and settled at Hauturu, Kawhia. Mr Watts Was always a keen adherent of the Church of England and was for many years a member of the Waikato Diocesan Synod. He was keenly interested in local social and sports activities. He was also a Justice of the Peace. He leaves a widow and two sons.
