THE PIRONGIA BRANCH. A Women’s Institute meeting was held in the Pirongia Library on the 13th inst. and a very pleasant afternoon was spent by the ladies. A three-minute talk on British Empire countries •was greatly enjoyed. The hostesses of the afternoon were Mesdames Len. Godfrey and Rowan. The committee is as follows: Mesdanies C. Berry, J. Livingstone, L. Marx, G. Lorimer, P. Barry, W. H. Bell, B. Bromell, E. J. Owen and A. Shaw. THE KAIPAKI BRANCH. Mrs A. Goodwin, who presided over a large attendance of members at the May meeting of the Kaipaki branch of the Women’s Institute, extended a hearty w-elcome to the visitors present. An interesting feature of the meeting was the reading of a letter from the Home Link, Teynham, Kent, England. The writer thanked all New Zealanders for their wonderful effort in helping the Mother country. Members handed in more articles for the soldiers’ parcels, which are being packed this month. Competitions were held for a Peggy square, and a bowl of autumn flowers and foliage, the Peggy squares to be handed to the Lady Galway Guild. The rolls call was “Your oldest possession and say its history.” A most interesting demonstration in tatting was given by Mrs Tucker and Mrs N. Goodwin. A beautiful array of finished pieces of tatting was displayed. A vote of sympathy was passed with Mrs Ward Chapman and Mrs Wiley, who had recently been bereaved. The sales table did good business. The hostesses were Misses Jean Scott and Annie Courtman.
