KAIRANGI SETTLEMENT

EXTENSION OF ROBINSON’S ROAD. ■ Extension of Robinson’s Road, in the Kairangi district, was mentioned at Monday’s meeting oi the WJaipa County Council, when Cr J. W'. Garland (Pukekura riding) said the work would be fairly costly, and quite beyond the resources of the riding. He a native-owned area that would be served had lately been acquired by the Government, and perhaps some arrangement could be made with the Lands Department to ensure a suitable road-line being conserved when that property was being sub-divided. The engineer (Mr Wi. G. Macky) said he did not know the locality well, but he understood the area would be benefited by an extension of Robihson’s Road. Cr J. T. Johnson said the desired extension would be beneficial. Kairangi settlement block was being administered by the Small Faring Development Board, and if Kairangi was to be eventually linked with the area known as Ellicott’s Block, over the saddle, the extension of the road would be very desirable 'to all interests. He thought provision already made for water supp.ly to all farm sub-divisions could fairly easily be made available to Mr Robinson’s land, through which the road would pass for about twenty chains. Cr Garland expressed his full concurrence. If the road was extended to link with the present roading system in Kairangi settlement and its neighbourhood there would be avoidance of duplication of traffic on any onn road. Eventually the engineer was asked to investigate and report to a later meeting of the Council.

After a long discussion the dissension in the ranks of the Waikato Cricket Association, which resulted in the chairman of the management committee, Mr C. G. Hunt, the secretary, Mr K. L. Sandford, and the sole selector, Mr W. Everest, resigning, was ended at a meeting last Monday night. The officials concerned camo to an agreement on the basis that matters should remain as they were before the trouble and that the selection of the captain of the Hawke Cup side should be left to a sub-committee of five, comprising Messrs C. G. Hunt, S. A. R. Badeley, W. Everest, R. Johnston and E.
