VALEDICTORY. POPULAR OTOROHANGA RESIDENT. The Otorohanga Defence Rifle Club tendered a public farewell to a prominent member, Mr Fred E. Hyde, at the Regent Tea Rooms on Saturday evening last, Mrs Hyde being associated with tlxe function. iMr G. W. L. Palmer, president of the Club, presided, and presented MiHyde with a handsome silver tea set as a token of the Club’s esteem, and announced that the Club had elected him a life membex-. Mr Hyde suitably replied' to the various speakers who liad said so many kind things about him. Aftexa residence of- twenty-one years in the district he found he could not continue to carry on his farming operations especially as his son had recently joined the Air Force, and he was unable to replace him with suitable laboux- for the specialised Work of a dairy farm. He had now leased his property, and proposed to live in Auckland. Mi- Hyde has been an active membex- of the Rifle Club, the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, the Gun Club, the 'Bowling Club, and other sports bodies. He was formerly a popular representative of the Otorohanga district branch of Messrs Dalgety and Company’s live-stock department for a period of twelve years.
