GARDEN PARTY AT MANGAPIKO The home of Mr and Mrs W. Alexander, Mangapiko, was the scene of a very enjoyable garden party held recently under the auspices of the Te Awamutu branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. In spite of threatening weather in the morning, the afternoon was fine and there was a large attendance of guests from far and near. The beautiful garden was much admired, particularly the roses, which were exquisite and of great variety." Interesting games and competitions were engaged in, prizes for which were kindly donated by friends. A very fine gramophone provided excellent music, .which added to the pleasure of the afternoon.
The bring-and-buy stall was well patronised, and good business was done.
A dainty and appetising afternoon tea was dispensed, after which Mrs Alexander, in well-chosen words, thanked the guests for their attendance, and for helping to make the afternoon such a pleasant and successful one.
