JERSEY BULL SALES
TWO IN TE AWAMUTU. SOME HIGH-BRED ANIMALS. W|ith the Associated Pedigree Cattle Breeders’ Club’s annual show and sale of pedigree Jersey bulls (to be held on Monday next at Park Rioad) completed attention will turn to Te Awamutu Jersey Cattle Club’s annual bull sale at the Municipal sale yards on Wednesday (27th September) of the following week, when nearly seventy bulls from local district breeders will be offered. The Jersey Cattle Club has had several successful sale in recent years, but this time it should be even more important even though indications point to lower prices ruling in view of the war emergency.
However, the animals to be offered are top class, and any dairyman acquiring one for his herd can be assured of getting his full money’s worth. Te Awamutu Club has been tightening the regulations and conditions of sale along lines dictated by defined policy, ajnd it is noteworthy that this policy is in consonance with that of the New Zealand Dairy Board, as indicated by recent pronounceemnts.
Perhaps Te Awamutu Jersey Cattle Club is the first in New Zealand to take definite steps in that direction, but it is safe to predict that it will soon be followed by other Jersey clubs which hold sales.
Only bulls eligible for certificate to sire marked calves have been accepted for the catalogue, and the but-ter-fat figures show that they have a splendid backing in that respect; in most cases it is a remarkable example of consistent butter-produc-ing dams, granddams, and other relatives.
Prospective buyers should at once obtain a catalogue from any of the three auctioneering firms operating, or from the secretary of the Club (Mr J. G. Wlynyard), and note particularly the guarantee printed prominently.
