HAMILTON STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports as follows: Sheep: At Frankton sale on Tuesday a full entry of all classes was received, but prime quality ewe and wether mutton was in short supply, most of the yarding being composed of unfinished sheep. Values steady for best quality, but competition weakened towards the end of the sale. Hogget mutton and young fat ewes sold steadily, no heavy prime ewes being penned. Cattle: A full offering of ox beef, •the quality of which was not up to the standard of that offered last week, but in most cases values remained firm. Again a .good entry of cow and heifer beef, including a fair proportion of finished cattle, fo» which the demand was steady, and late rates were fully maintained. Boner cows sold at recent quotations. Pigs: A smaller offering of fats, well-finished sorts selling slightly in advance of recent quotations- Light and unfinished sold on a par with last week’s values. A light entry of stores and weaners sold under spirited competition at improved values. Quotations: Sheep: Prime fat wethers 22s to 23s 9d, medium 19s to 21s 6d, fat ewes 12s 6d to 15s 6d, fat lambs 18s 3d to 20s 9d, killable 13s 9d to 17s 3d. CAMBRIDGE STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited report at their usual three-weekly Cambridge stock sale on Tuesday a medium yarding of all classes of cattle was penned. Competition was spirited from a good bench, of buyers. A small entry of lightweight ox beef was submitted, and prices realised must be considered as highly satisfactory. A small yarding of dairy cattle sold at values on a par with clearing sale values. A, very small offering of pigs maintained late firm rates. Quotations: Cattle: Light fat Hereford steers £7 15s to £8; light P.A. steers £6 12s to £6 14s; fat Jersey cows and heifers £5 to £5 ss; lighter £4 5s to £4 12s 6d; killable cows £3 15s to £4; heavy boner cows £3 to £3 15s; medium £2 5s to £2 15s; canner cows 14s to 3,05. Dairy cattle: Backward dairy cows £4 12s 6d to £5 7s 6d; 2-year Jersey heifers, r.w.b. £4 Pigs: Heavy porkers £2 10s to £2 15s; light choppers 35s to £2 ss; good store pigs 24s to 275; Tamworth cross breeding sows £4. SUCCESSFUL DISPERSAL AT WALTON. Messrs Newton King Limited held an extremely successful clearing sale at Walton yesterday, when they disposed of Messrs G. A. and M. Bruce’s herd of 49 Jersey and Jersey-cross cows. The cattle came forward in good condition, and met with strong competition from a representative attendance of buyers, the average price over all being £9 6s. Early calving young cows sold freely from £lO to £l3 10s, older sorts £8 10s to £9 15s, 2-year heifers £7 5s to £8 10s. SALE OF HIGH-GRADE COWS AT CAMBRIDGE. 'Messrs Newton King Limited report holding an extremely successful clearing sale before a large and representative attendance of buyers when they offered Mr J. A. Wallace’s herd of 80 grade Jersey cows on the farm at Cambridge yesterday. The vendor departed from the usual run of sales by guaranteeing every • cow sound at calving, and with the creditable manner in which the cattle

came forward a wonderfully keen sale resulted, the average over the sound cows being £lO 15s. Early-calving young cows sold freely from .£l3 to £l4 10s, others £ll 10s to £l2 10s, older sorts £9 to £ll, practically every cow bringing double figures. The two-year dairy heifers from the same herd were keenly competed for from £9 to £9 15s. The line of yearling heifers attracted considerable interest, finally realising £3 15s.
