WAIPA RACING CLUB
WINTER MEETING ON NEW COURSE. NOMINATIONS CLOSE TO-NIGHT For some considerable time past the Waipa Racing Club’s course at Te Awamutu has been undergoing alteration, and the. last two or three meetings have been held at Te Rapa. The work has now been completed, and the club will hold its winter meeting on Saturday, June 24th, on its own course. The sum of £1727 10s, including trophies, will be distributed in stakes, the chief event being the W. G. Park Steeplechase, of £4OO and a gold cup value 50 gns, presented by Mr E. Montgomery. The Woodstock Stakes, one mile and a quarter, is worth £3OO, whjle the other events are: Andrew Kay Memorial Hack and Hunters’ Steeples, of £2OO and a trophy value £25, about two miles and a quarter; Arapuni Hack Handicap, of £l5O, six furlongs and a half; Orakau Hurdles, of £2OO, one mile and three quarters; Paterangi Handicap, of £2OO, seven furlongs; and Hairini Hack Handicap, of £2OO, one mile and 150 yards. Nominations are due this evening.
