SCHOOL DENTAL CLINIC
MEETING OF TEACHERS. A meeting of teachers on Saturday afternoon decided, with regret, that the task of arranging combined school concerts in aid of the Dental Clinic funds presented so herculean a task that it was decided to cancel these fixtures. Individual schools will assist at any local function in their own districts if called upon. The main purpose of the meeting on Saturday, however, was to make tentative arrangements for a seven-a-side football and six-a-side basketball tournament to be held at Oparau on a Saturday in July suitable to the Rugby Union. At least seven football and eight basketball teams will take part in this one day fixture, the gate takings f.rom which will be handed to the Dental Clinic Committee. The local football and basketball clubs are to be approached with a view to arranging adult games to follow the children’s. The recent inter-school sports meeting gave the public some idea of the excellence of the organisation and the fine spirit of sportsmanship of our district children and the above mentioned should be a similar success. Progress announcements will be made, and in the meantime parents will encourage the juveniles, and the different sports cluJj^'WflTsurely encourage members’Ko pake.the tournament a social and Jsanc ! ial success.
