LANTERN PICTURES

WHERE CHRISTIANITY STANDS. Thursday evening was decidedly wet but not sufficiently so to prevent a few people attending Ward’s Hall to view a series of pictures illustrating the advantage derivable from the application, and the reverse by nonapplication, of the principles for which Christianity has stood and still stands to uphold. The projections were perfect in every respect, falling upon the screen under light perfectly adjusted by the operator, the Rev. A. W. W. Alexander, to permit minute detail coming into relief with unusual clarity. Speaking in terms appropriate to the scenes as they were depicted, Mr Alexander held the attention of his audience and in the course of his remarks stressed the dire need of the world of to-day to investigate channels indicated by Christian teaching as leading to the uplift rather than the destruction of mankind. An entertaining- and thought-promoting evening was spent by those present as the guests of Mr Alexander.
