MOTOR ACCIDENTS
TWO NARROW ESCAPES. An unusual accident happened the other day to Mr Len Frier, an employee of the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s Otorohanga store, when he was brushed off the running board of a lorry when it ran close in to a fernclad bank near Kio Kio. As he fell to the water table the back wheel of the lorry went over his legs, severaly bruising them. Mr Frier is still suffering from the occurrence, but was fortunate in escaping so lightly. Whilst a car, owned and driven byMr H. Murphy, a settler of Otorohanga, was proceeding along the Pirongia Road on Sunday last, the vehicle left the road at a sharp bend and rolled completely over before coming to rest 20 feet below the level of the roadway. The passengers in the car Mrs Murphy (mother of the driver) and Mr R. E. Dean, of Otorohanga, suffered from bruises and shock, but otherwise escaped injury. Passing motorists rendered prompt assistance immediately after the accident.
