C.O.R. TESTING OF COWS

REVIEW OF FRIESIAN RECORDS. A total of 171 certificates of records were issued to Friesian cows during 1937, comprising 60 firstclass and 14 second-class for records completed during 1937, and 97 sec-ond-class certificates to replace third-class C.O.R. issued for records made prior to 1937. The first-class certificates consisted to three issued in the 305-day division and 57 (49 ordinary and eight repesat) issued for yearly records. The average production of the firstclass C.O.R. was 15,511.41 b milk and 598.611 b fat. The total number of first-class C.O.R. now held by Friesians is 2302 and the average for these certificates is 14,105.01 b milk and 500.371 b fat in 345 days, the first time any dairy breed .in the Dominion has averaged over 5001 b of fat for all C.O.R. gained to date. The second class certificates issued during the year were secured in the yearly division, the* average production for these being 15,4671 b milk and 598.6 lb fat. Friesians have now 238 records for a production under C.O.R. exceeding 20,000 gallons of milk in a year, and Friesians under C.O.R. have 112 records exceeding 1001 b fat in a month.
