AUCKLAND HOSPITAL
NEW SECRETARY APPOINTED. The appointment of Mr. C. L. Grange, at present borough commissioner of Thames as secretary-man-ager of the Auckland Hospital Board, was made at a special meeting of the board last night. The selection was made from three applicants out of a total of 163. Mr. Grange, who is regarded as an outstanding local body administrator, has been commissioner of the borough of Thames for the past five years. He was born in Auck land and educated at the Waihi High School. After serving for seven years as town clerk at Whangarei, he was appointed to a similar position at Invercargill. He held that position for five years and then, when the finances of the borough of Thames Ayere in a most difficult position, he was appointed borough commissioner by the Forbes-Coates Government. His work in control of the borough’s affairs has been conspicuously successful and last year he was appointed a member of the Local Government Loans Board.
