AS REPORTED IN WAIPA POST ON JULY 23, 1912. There is every prospect of a cheese factory being started in Te Awamutu. Daffodils are already to be seen in lull bloom in Te Awamutu gardens. A post office is to be opened at Te Mawliai (Te Puhi), and Mr R. N. White lias been appointed postmaster. Owing to the similarity of the names Te Puhi and Te Puke, the Postal Department decided to change Te Puhi to Te Mawliai, which we understand is the name ot a stream in tlie locality. The Waipa Jockey Club appointed the following as a ground commitee: Messrs F. Quin, L. Bayley, G. Teasdale, A. Wood, F. Taylor, H. Williams, J. Pollard, A. Bond and O. Heerdegen. Valuable stock acquired.—Mr F. Quin has purchased a yearling purebred Holstein bull, and Mr J. McGovern has purchased a similar animal, while Captain Hope-Johnstone, of ilratitaha, has acquired the two year old Holstein bull Veeman's Lad, bred by the N.S.W. Government and imported by Mr C. Channing Buckland, of Monavale. The Chamber of Commerce appointed Messrs J. B. Teasdale, J. Middlebrook and M. C. Lawson to proceed Io Te Kuiti to confer with the Hon. W. Fraser, Minister ot Public Works. Direct telephone communication between Te Awamutu and Kawhia is asked the .Postmaster General by the Chamber of Commerce. In a letter to the Editor, an Australian visitor says: "You evidently have some intelligent and useful men in your pretty but muddy little township, which augurs well for the future —and yours, too, while you encourage them. In these days of country rags’ yours comes as a bright refresher.” Ohaupo Dramatic Society intends shortly staging “The Factory Girl” and “Lost Luggage." A public meeting re-elected Messrs C. Bowden, A. S. Wallace, F. Potts, J. D. Teasdale and A. H. Storey as members of the Puniu Domain Board.
