SYNTHETIC BEEF

CANADIAN EXPERIMENT. A London scientist of world reputation lays claim to have discovered a process whereby synthetic beef can be produced from grasses, cereals, milk, and marine vegetation of certain types. The beef is said to be indistinguishable from ordinary bullock meat in taste, food values, texture, and appearance. The first to appreciate the enormous potentialities of the London scientist’s discovery were a number of influential and farming interests in British Columbia, who went specially to London recently, accompanied by legal, scientific, and business advisers. After four weeks’ exhaustive investigation, says the North British Agriculturist and Farm News, they were completely satisfied as to the soundness of the process, and the potential demand. Already a company, capitalised at £250,000, has been formed to exploit the discovery in Canada, while six lucre companies of equal capital are in process of formation for the Empire. _ All the plant is to be of British manufacture and orders have been placed. Every Dominion is represented in the six countries, and an important Australian delegation is .hortly expected in the next few weeks to complete arrangements for manufacture for Australasia and the East.
