Objection was raised from the body of the Court, at Tuesdays sitting of the Transport Licensing Authority, when N. Gallichan applied for renewal of his existing license. He was asked if he casually employed, bagging coal, a man who was already in permanent employment. The applicant said he did so, but saw no reason why the issuance of a license should be affected. He added that it may happen that no other man was available. After some questioning, Gallicban was advised by the Authority to employ some one more in need of the employment, however casual, and the local secretary of the General Labourers’ Union gave an assurance that a man would be available at any time required.
