WAIPA COUNTRY ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the management committee of the Waipa Country Cricket Association, on Monday evening, was presided over by Mr W. F. Whitton, of Frontier Road, and there was a full attendance of delegates. Several donations were announced, and the secretary was instructed to acknowledge them with thanks. It was agreed that the match, Fron tier Road v. Puahue, in the southern zone competition, to have been played on October 31st, be played on December sth and 12th. The midsummer holiday adjournment, affecting both zones, is to operate from December sth to January 9th, as most of the players will be busy with harvesting during that period. Messrs Whitton, Catchpole and Somerville, were appointed an Emergency Committee. It was resolved to ask the southern zone selector to choose a team from the Frontier Road, Pokuru and Puahue clubs to meet the Waikeria eleven on Boxing Day. The affiliation fee of £3 10s to the Waipa Cricket Association was passed for payment. Additional players registered were; W. Clarkson (Kaipaki Club), L. Arnold and S. Roa (Frontier Road Club). On Saturday last the Te Awamutu team journeyed out to the Hospital ground to try conclusions with the local eleven. Winning the toss, the home side batted first and were all out for the moderate total of 91. Turner 17. Gell 13, Hoban 13, Brewer 11 and Askew 10 were the only members to reach double figures. Barnett bowled wedl for his 5 for 36, and Roxborough was steady with his 3 for 4. Te Awamutu were unable to strike form, being a little short of practice, and could only muster 74 runs altogether. Westbrook played a fine innings for his 22, while Edgecombe comniled a nice 20. Mulligan played an attractive innings for 10. After Westbrook had knocked 10 off one of Gell’s ove’.s, the latter finished up with 6 wickets for 13 runs.
