TESTING ASSOCIATION’S FIGURES. THE OCTOBER AVERAGES. The October averages for cows under test by the N.Z. Co-op. Herdtesting Association are now available, and they show that the 98,538 cows under test averaged 8291bs milk, 4.31 test and 361bs fat. For October last year the 86,331 cows tested averaged 7801bs milk, 4.28 test and 331bs tat; while for October, 1934, the 92,819 cows averaged 8331bs milk, 4.31 test and 361bs fat. The best cow in the whole of the Association’s territory was one in the Otorohanga district where her production was 1311bs tat for the month, while the best herd average was 611bs fat from a held of 44 cows m the Matangi district. Hords in the Te Awamutu district measured up well with the best in other districts, as will be seen from the following:— The 890 cows in the Hairini group averaged 8241bs milk, 4.58 test and 381bs tat. The best average was 481bs fat, two herds equalling this figure; the best individual cow gave 981bs fat. Kaipaki group’s 2059 cows averaged 8651bs milk, 4.47 test and 391bs tat. The best herd, 38 cows, averaged 481bs fat, and the best cow gave 941bs fat. The 945 cows in Te Awamutu group averagdd 8551bs milk, 4.38 test and 381bs fat. The best average was 451bs fat from 44 cows, and the best cow gave 891bs fat. Te Kawa group’s 1586 cows averaged 8911bs milk, 4.49 test and 491 bs fat. The best herd, 108 cows, averaged 481bs fat—a fine average for such a large herd —and the best individual produced 951bs fat. Kihikihi group’s 2442 cows averaged 8511bs milk, 4.5 test and 381bs fat. The best herd average was 461bs fat, equalled by two herds, and the best cow produced 951bs fat. Otorohanga group—the largest in the Association—with 4275 cows, averaged BO4lbs milk, 4.27 test and 341bs fat. The best herd, 24 cows, averaged 571bs fat, and the best cow gave the almost phenomenal yield of 1311bs fat. Paterangi groun’s 957 cows averaged 8521bs milk, 4.44 test and 381bs fat. The best herd average was 451bs fat from 53 cows, and the best individual production 801bs fat. The 758 cows in the Kawhia group averaged 8761bs milk, 4.19 test and 371bs fat. The best herd, 31 cows, averaged 521bs fat, and the best cow —<ve 781bs fat.
