WAIPA COUNTRY ASSOCIATION. COMPETITIONS COMMENCE ON SATURDAY. The draw for the first round of the Waipa Country Cricket Association's southern zone shows that the championship series commences to-morrow, when Frontier Road play Puahue, and Waikerla play Pokuru. On Saturday 31st, Frontier Road play Waikerla, and Puahue play Pokuru, while on November 6th Pokuru play Frontier Road and Puahue play Waikeria. The draw for the nortli zone is not available, but championship games do not commence until Saturday of next week. FRONTIER ROAD V. NGUTUNUI. To celebrate the opening of the 1936-37 season, Frontier Road Club staged a friendly match with the boys of Ngutunui district, the former team winning eventually by 19 runs. The game war. played on the Frontier Road pitch, and the home team batted first, compiling 53 runs. Corliss 12 and J. Askew 21 were the double figure men. . G. West took six wickets for 26, and S. Scott 5 for 20. Ngutunui (12 players) were all disposed of in their first innings for 36, of which W. Beet compiled 11. J. Askew was deadly with the ball, capturing six wickets for 20, and P. Corliss five for 14. The second strike for Frontier Road yielded 42, nobody reaching double figures. Scott again did well with the ball, taking six wickets for 24, and Bell four for 3. Ngutu-nui’s second innings was opened hopefully, but the lot- were out for 40 runs, and again nobody reached double figures. The outstanding performance ot the day was that of S. Scott, a stripling who gets little opportunity for serious cricket. He bowled 14 overs, with five maidens, and captured 11 wickets for 42 runs, bowling throughout both innings. The Hamilton Cricket Club’s A and B teams travelled to Otorohanga during last week end and played matches against the Otorohanga representative teams. The A team was beaten by Otorohanga by 55 runs. Otorohanga batted first for 115 runs (Finlay 34, Goodhall 25, Gwilllam 17, J. Everest two for 4, R. Dabb three for 15, B. Pome roy three for 30). Hamilton replied with 60 (J. Everest 30, B. Pomeroy 11, Corbett three for 12, Larsen four for 23, Gwilliam two for 16). The Hamilton B team batted first in their fixture, compiling 217 runs (R. Everest 92, J. Taylor 38, J. Dempsey 20, N.
