ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

LOCAL ATTITUDE TO APPEAL FUND. A special meeting of the Te Awamutu St. John Ambulance Association was held on Thursday evening, the president, Mr G. W. Mairs, occupying the chair. The secretary reported having received several collection lists for distribution, in connection with the Waikato Association’s appeal throughout the whole of its territory for a £4OOO fund with which to erect a central ambulance station in Hamilton. Keen disappointment was expressed that the Waikato Association had not forwarded details of the scheme to the Te Awamutu Association earlier, as it is vitally interested. In fact, any general scheme should have first been submitted to the minor associations for comment, suggestions, and to enable them to arrange their own affairs. After a general discussion, it was resolved to forward a protest to the Waikato Association at the peremptory manner in which the minor associations had been treated, but promising the fullest possible assistance in the campaign to make the appeal successful. Reports showed that the local Association’s building scheme was progressing, and Messrs H. Giles and W. Mensforth were appointed to confer with the Mayor and local builders in the advancement of a suitable plan of the proposed building.
