TE AWAMUTU CLUB’S ANNUAL MEETING. PROSPECTS FOR NEW SEASON. There was a good attendance of members at the annual general meeting of Te Awamutu Cricket Club on Wednesday evening, when Mr N. J. Rusden was voted to the chair. Giving a resume of the past season, the secretary (Mr H. T. Haseiden) stated that in the early part of the season the team had met with a series of defeats, but as the year advanced, and with the change of the playing ground from Albert Park to Tokanui, the team had gone forward and had not lost one game, thus winning the championship. This, to his mind, was a great performance, and was attributable to the same eleven turning out Saturday after Saturday, and to the way in which the team was controlled. The leadership of Mr Gell bad a lot to do with the team’s success. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr C. W. Rickit; president, Dr F. C. Blundell; vice-presidents, Dr K. N. Hiskens and Messrs K. C. Rickit, A. L. Storey, W. J. North, O. S. West, C. Bowden, and E. H. Cucksey; treasurer, Mr A. F. McKenzie; secretary, Mr H. T. Haselden; committee, Messrs H. Ellison, M. Barnett, and J. Brown; delegates to Waipa Association, Messrs H. T. Haselden and M. Barnett. The statement of accounts showed receipts totalling £l2 19s 6d, expenditure £ll 13s 6d, leaving a credit balance of £1 6s.—The balance-sheet was adopted. The advisability of conducting twoday matches instead of the one-day fixture was discussed, but it was decided to adhere to the single-day match system. It was decided to open the season with a practice match at the High School grounds next Saturday. Several new members were elected. WAIPA COUNTRY ASSOCIATION. The second annual general meeting of the Association was held in the Ohaupo Memorial Hall on Monday, October sth, at 8 p.m. The president Mr W. T. Whitton, presided over a record attendance. Delegates were present from the following clubs: Puahue, Pokuru, Wanderers, Kaipaki, Lake Road, Rukuhia and Frontier Road. Apologies for absence were re ceived from the Waikeria Club. The association had enjoyed a successful and prosperous season, and the balance sheet showed a profit on the year’s working of £lO 16s 2d, and the annual report was adopted with acclamation. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: Pat ron, Mr S. Reid (re-elected); president, Mr W. T. Whitton (reelected); vice-presidents, Messrs J. A. Steele, W. Somerville, J. Bones, H. Fear, J. Cavanagh; secretary and treasurer, Mr R. E. Catchpole; auditor, Mr L. D Kemp; selectors, Messrs A. Raymond, W. Somerville (convenor), C. Tarr; official umpires, Messrs C. J. Spiers, W. Tan and A. E. McDonald. The association had learnt with regret of the departure of Mr J. M. Boyd from the district, and amidst applause Mr Boyd was elected the association’s first life member. It was resolved to play the competitions in two zones, north and south, with two day matches in both zones. The points were scheduled as follows: 4 for a win on the two innings, 2 for a win in the first innings, and 1 for a draw. The association decided to adopt the eight ball over this season. The opening date for the championship competition of both zones was fixed for Saturday, October 24th.
