LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
TOKANUI BRANCH. A meeting of the Tokanui branch of the League ot Mothers was held in the Crossroads Hall on Wednesday afternoon. The president made feeling reference to the bereavement suffered by two members, those present paying a silent tribute of sympathy. Interesting correspondence was read from the Grey Lynn representative, Miss Davis, dealing with both Auckland provincial and branch activities and a resume of an address given at Grey Lynn by Captain Sargent, harbourmaster of Auckland, describing Auck land harbour, its progress and the present and future shipping facilities Miss N. Walters, of Otorohanga, who has just returned from a visit to Honolulu, gave an exceedingly interesting account of her impressions and experiences while visiting the islands of Hawaii. Mention was made of the and customs of the islanders, the many scenic attractions, the beauty of the tropical flowers and fol iage, visits to the sugar plantations, and to the largest pineapple factory in the world. This talk was concluded by the speaker showing many valuable and unique souvenirs which she had procured. A very hearty vote of thanks was accorded Miss Walters A competition for the best worked apron was won by Mrs C. Cruickshank, with Miss E. Howcroft second. Miss Howcroft also won another competition, Afternoon tea concluded the meeting. Miss Walters and Miss Knowles, of Dunedin, were the judges for the competitions.
