BASKETBALL
KURUNGAJTUKU CUP TOURNEY. The following team will represent Te Awamutu Athletic Basketball Club in the Kurungaituku Cup competition to be held this week at Rotorua: — Misses A. Maclean, M. North, P. Bloxham, P. Shelley, H. Spinley, J. Sherley, N. Laskey, L. Bloxham, M. Pollard, and I. Laskey. A combined team from the Arapuni and local High School Old Girls’ Clubs will also be competing. This competition, which attracts some twlenty odd teams from many parts of the North Island, is held annually during the Rotorua Spring Carnival Week. The Athletic Girls’ Club is doing everything to ensure a successful trip as they are taking with them. 1a koala beai- and two snappy dogs as mascots. (Lots of luck, girls, you will surely need it.—Ed). The combined A,rapuni and Te Awamutu Old Girls’ team to play at Rotorua is:—Goalers, Mrs Kitty and Rona Lowry (Arapuni), A. Jackson (Old Girls); centres, Nancy Verity (0.G.), Mrs Hail’ and Joyce McGill (Aramini); defence, Hazel Fear and Jean Ferguson (0.G.), Irene Flavill (Arapuni). Reserve: V. Jackson (0.G.).
