The fame-of the Labour Depart, ment’s placement scheme appears to have spread to the most remote corners of the Dominion. A southern placement officer reports that during one week he received enquiries from towns 26, 50 and 60 miles distant for a baker, a carpenter and a painter. A Gisborne employe:- recently was provided with the services of a tradesman who was located in Invercargill, he being the only man available of the particular trade.
