HAMILTON STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co. Ltd., report:—Sheep: At Frankton sale on Tuesday an extra heavy yarding of both fat wethers and ewes were penned. The quality in most cases was first class and competition keen at higher values. Prime wethers from Glencoe farm realised 41s, while a pen ot prime ewes from the same -vendor averaged 30s 6d. Wethers from Mr S. N. Managh, of Mahutu, realised 37s 6d, while one truck of prime ewes from Mrs M. Paterson, of Horsham Downs, sold from 27s 9d to 30s 3d. Another truck of prime ewes from Mrs I. K. Farrer, Te Kulti, averaged 30s. A heavy entry of fat and forward lambs met with a good marl et, from both exporters and graziers. Store sheep were also penned in good numbers and sold at recent rates. Cattle: A good yarding of ox beef, comprising mostly well finished medium weight steers. Competition was good with quotations firming. Cow and heifer beef was yarded in heavy numbers. Our entry included a good proportion of finished quality cattle, the market firming strongly at increased rates. A truck of prime heifers from Mr H. Finlayson sold from 28 12s to £9, while a truck from Mr C. C. Parry realised £6 9s to £7 19s. Second quality and boner cows were penned in usual numbers, all classes being in demand. A keen sale for young cattle,, particularly sound young Jersey cows, was in evidence. An average yarding of vealers and runners, the demand for these being extra keen. A prime runner from Mr C. C. Parry sold at £6 7s 6d, while other calves from the same vendor sold from 35s to £3 ss. Pigs: A small entry of fat pigs sold under keen competition, prices showing a further advance. Stores and weaners, came forward in average numbers, selling at present ruling rates. PIRONGIA STOCK SALE. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report as follows on their Pirongia Stock Sale held on Wednesday. In addition to a full yarding of Store and rat Cows with a good proportion of the latter, a heavy entry of dairy cows came forward. The market for fat and store cows was keen and a complete clearance was effected, at prices about equal to Frankton levels. The dairy cows and heifers, particularly good Jersey cows close to profit, elicited strong competition and values were quite satisfactory throughout. A medium entry of both cows and heifers came forward and there was a fair sprinkling among them of good quality Jerseys. The attendance of buyers was quite large and steady competition prevailed throughout, with values quite satisfactory in comparison with recent quotations, being obtained. A total clearance was effected. We quote:-—Good quality Jersey heifers due July/August £6 10s to £7 15s; medium conditioned dairy heifers £5 10s to £6 10s; average Jersey cows due July/August £5 15s to £6 10s; backward plain sorts of cows and heifers £4 10s to £5 10s. OTOROHANGA STOCK SALE. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, report as follows on their Otorohanga Stock Sale held on Wednesday. The store and fat cow pens were fairly well filled but quality was lacking. For medium to good quality fat cows a good sale was effected, while stores and boners were eagerly sought and a ready clearance was effected with an improving tendency in prices. We entered a very large yarding of dairy cows and heifers and all met with a keen sale. Most were plain sorts but the standard of prices was very good as compared with rates of other centres. A small entry of sheep consisting principally of fat hoggets met with brisk competition. Notwithstanding the fact that a heavy entry of store and weaner pigs came forward all met with a remarkably good sale and a definite improvement was discernible. WELLINGTON RABBIT SKIN SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co. report that their third sale ot rabbit skins was held on Tuesday afternoon, before a full attendance of exporters, furriers and the local trade. The offering comprised skins drawn from Wellington, Hawke’s Bay, Taihape, Wairarapa and Manawatu districts. There was good enquiry on American account, competition being exceedingly keen for winter descriptions. We disposed of practically all our catalogue under the hammer at prices in advance otelast sale's quotations. Winter sorts were dearer by 6d to lOd, autumns 3d to 6d, and the lower grades Id to 3d. Prime Winter bucks fetched 136Jd to 144 d, first winter bucks 120Jd to 138 d, second winter bucks 107 d to 122 d, prime winter does 93d to 965. Trappers are advised to forward their consignments early, so that advantage can be taken of the present favourable market. MATAMATA STOCK SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd. report having held their usual fortnightly sale at Matamata on Wednesday, when there was a medium yarding of sheep which met with fair competition. Prices were up to vendors’ expectations. We quote: Fat lambs 29s td, i.c. lambs 19s lOd, stores 19s lOd, others 16s Id, hoggets 22s 6d to 245, wethers up to 245, ewes r.w. ram to 27s Id, inferior ewes 14s Id. Pigs: There was a medium yarding of store pigs and a small yarding of fat pigs. Stores and weaners were firm at late quotations. We quote: Medium weight baconers £2 17s to £3 Is, medium porkers 33s to 395, large stores 35s to 395, medium stores 25s to 335, small 20s to 245, best slips 18s to 225, smaller 14s to 17s, best weaners Ils to 14s, others 8s to 10s, young Tamworth sows close to profit £4 10s to £5, young small maiden sows £2 10s to £3, backward sows £2 to £2 10s, service boars £1 to 355. Cattle: There was a good yarding of cattle, which met with strong competition. We quote: Light fat Jersey steers £7 10s, fat heifers £5 2s 6d to £6 15s, f.c. heifers £3 10s Ito £4 7s 6d, fat cows £7 12s 6d to £8 Is, second quality cows £3 10s to £3 15s, killable cows £2 19s to £3 7s, boners up to £2 2s. Dairies: There was a small yarding of dairy cattle with a few lots of quality cattle offering. The latter were not keenly sought after.
