A district farmer was asked this week about the dairy prospects for the coming season, and remarked that so far he had 100 per cent, of heifer calves from his herd. Another farmer stated that the average on his farm so far is 100 per cent heifers and 50 per cent bull calves! This was rather a poser, but he explained that to date only two cows had come to profit—one cow had a heifer calf, and the other cow produced twins, a bull and a heifer, thus making the percentage stated.
