YORKSHIRE RELIEVED
NOTHING LIRE WOOL Yorkshire has recovered from the fright occasioned by the report that Italy had made wool from milk. The artificial substance, submitted to the scientists of the wool trade, proves a very Inferior substitute. Sheep’s wool has scales—nearly 3000 to the inch in some cases—and these scales make it a close warm substance. The artificial wool has no scales. It cannot make a blanket or flannels, and when it is washed it stretches out of all shape and size.
WORDS. “Do you know if the editor has looked at any of the poems I sent him?” “Yes, sir, he glanced through them this morning.” “Oh—just a cursory examination I suppose ?” “You’re right, sir. I never heard such language in all my life.” FAMILY PROBLEM. First Girl Hiker: I inserted an advertisement in our local newspaper recently under a box number for a male partner to accompany me on a fortnight's hiking trip. Second Girl: How interesting. Did you have many replies? First Girl: Yes., hundreds, but there was a terrible row at home over it. Second Girl: Good gracious, why? Firsft Girl: Father was one of the •applicants!
