re AWAiMUTU ELECTRIC POWER BOARD. INSPECTOR’S AND ENGINEER’S REPORTS. The following reports by Messrs E. Bryant (engineer) and A. J. Tailby (inspector) were presented to Rriday’s meeting of the Te Awamuta Electric Power Board:— ENGINEER’S REPORT. I have the honour to submit the following report of work carried out during the past month: Poles: Forty silver pine poles were received, and these were unloaded, carted and stacked at yard dump. Sixty-four poles were carted and sixty-three were erected of which twenty five were used on maintenance and thirty-eight on construction. Poles in the northern area were straightened up and re-rammed where required. Lines: One hundred and eightyeight chains of 7/16 wire were erected on low tension and one hundred chains of small wires were dismantled. Necessary repairs to lines in the northern area were carried out and the Nos. 3 and 5 southern 11 k.v. lines were patrolled. Transformers: The 6 k.v.a. transformer at T. 96, Parawera Road, was replaced with a 9 k.v.a. transformer and the 3 k.v.a. transformer at T. 104, Pokuru, was replaced with a 6 k.v.a. This was necessary on account of increased loadings. Three new transformer structures were erected on the Puniu circuit. At present we have no stand-by transformers for the 3,300 v. supply at main substation and for five outdoor substations in the Borough, and I recommend the purchasing of one 350 k.v.a. 11,0)0/3,300 v. 3 phase and one 100 k.v.a. 3,300/400 v. 3 phase transformers for spares in case of a breakdown. Power supply: The daily loading sheet for month of May is forwarded for your information. Street lighting: Lamps were replaced on the following circuits:— Ohaupo 1, Borough 1, Pirongia 1, and P.O. clock 3. Community lighting: Twenty-nine lamps were replaced on the various circuits. All control switches were reset/ Service lines: Sixteen service lines Were erected and a number were repaired or altered. Six services were reconnected and thirteen were disconnected. Trees adjacent to lines: Trees that were a hazard to lines were cut. Interviewing owners of trees to have them cut has been carried out as much as possible.

Transport: The vehicles travelled 4,676 miles during the month. General: Three voltage tests were made and the usual fault work has been carried out. There is a great amount of work accumulated at the present time in addition to the maintenance, which requires urgent attention. In view of this and the proposed Te Rore conversion, the Te Pahu extension, the completion of Puniu, the Waikeria change-over and many new consumers to come on, I respectfully ask you to consider engaging an additional gang of five men which would necessitate the purchase of another lorry ana equipment.
