(AS REPORTED IN THE WAIPA POST ON 20th JUNE, 1911.). The Town Board notifies the levy of the current year’s rates. The amount is id in the £ on the capital value. A penny subscription has opened at Te Awamutu school to send a cable to the King and Queen for the Coronation on Thursday. A chess club has been formed in Te Awamutu. Mr Bertram, of Hairini, is president, and Dr Reekie secretary. Mr Aubin Ahier, one of the earlier settlers, died at his residence at Pirongia on Sunday. ’He had suffered injury in a buggy Occident which caused a malady from which he never recovered. Te Awamutu Football Club met on Saturday to consider notice of disqualification from Cambridge Union. The Te Awamutu team had included ai. unregistered player. It was decided to appeal to the South Auckland Association against the decision of the Cambridge Union. The Postal Department calls tenders for the erection of the new post office at Te Awamutu. 'Recent land sales in the Pirongia district are reported at £l5 and £25 per acre. At a valedictory social last night Mr W. G. Abbott was farewelled. Mr J. T. Reid presided. Mir Abbott has been licensee of the Commercial Hotel and leaves for Auckland.
