(AS REPORTED IN THE WAIPA POST ON MAY 23rd, 1911.)
The Minister of Railways, Hon. J. A. Millar, has at last consented to put a carriage for passengers on the train leaving Frankton at 7 a.m. The facilities are most grudgingly given, so much so, that the people can ask it the railways do belong to them. The Minister, who poses as a Democrat and was elected by a democratic people, has become an absolute Autocrat. A correspondent urges a public meeting to arrange a fitting eelebra tion of the Coronation in Te Awamutu.
While working on the road at Rangiaohia yesterday, workmen unearthed three skeletons. A pair of scissors and a number of broken bottles had been evidently placed in the grave. New buildings include one at the corner of Market. Street to the order of Mr'D. Bockett for municipal chambers. Mr J. B. Teasdale has cleared his corner and a two storied concrete building is to be erected there. Dr Henderson will erect two Shops, (memo: Bockett’s buildings are now tbe Union Bank premises; Mr Teasdale’s block is now Armstrong’s buildings, and Dr Henderson’s is now occupied by Harden’s Stores, Ltd.) At a valedictory social at Rangiaohia presentations were made to Mesdames .M, H. Mandeno, Jno. Ingham and Geo. Paul. Mr Thos. Weal presided and made the presentations. The Otorohanga Domain Board on Saturday elected Mr Vicary chairman and Mr F. Forster secretary.
At the first football match on Saturday Mr W. G. Abbott captained the Te Awamutu team, and Mr D. Thomson the Kihikihi team.
