Mrs A. E. Wilson, of Brady Street, has returned to Te Awamutu after an extended visit to Gisborne and Napier.

The Auckland Board of Education on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of Miss Z. R. Butcher as assistant teacher at the Korakonui School. Mr and Mrs R. W. Gibson, of Auckland, are re-visiting this district, and are at present staying with their son, Mr Jas. Gibson, Kihikihi.

Mr T. B. Quick received word this morning that he had been successful in passing the electrical wiremen’s examination (written) held at Hamilton recently.

Mrs P. F. Nathan, of Otorohanga, is at present an inmate of the Waikato Hospital, where she is to undergo a major operation shortly.

The engagement is announced between Reine (Bub), third daughter of Mr and Mrs W. H. Bell, of Pirongia, and Robert, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Innis Kerr, of Korakonui.

Mr and Mrs K. L. Bedlington, formerly of Otorohanga, but now of the Malay States, where Mr Berlington is a prominent Government surveyor, have been revisiting the King Country, prior to their return to Malaya, from Auckland, on the 29th inst.

Mr W. Y. Kirkham factory superintendant of the New Zealand Co-op-ative Dairy Company, and Mr S. A. Ferguson, chairman of the South Auckland Dairy Association, left on Tuesday night by the Limited express for Wellington. * Mr A. H. Ward, of Hamilton, secretary of the New Zealand Co-opera-tive Herd Testing Association, will shortly relinquish this office to take up the position of technical officer to the board of the New Zealand Herd Recording Department, Wellington.

Mr V. W. Simms, Otewa, has been elected chairman of the Waitomo Electric Power Board. In the voting for the offite, at last mondays meeting, there were two candidates, Mr Wi. S. Cato (the previous chairman) and Mr Simms. The voting being even the chairmanship was decided by a toss of a coin. There were only four members present to vote.

Puahue district loses one of its most esteemed settlers by the departure of Mr Henry Cowan, one of the original settlers on the block when jt was made available for settlement, about sixteen years ago. Mr Cowan proved himself a good farmer, a loyal friend, and a worthy settler, and consequently he takes away with him hearty good wishes for his future. Mr Cowan, who left for Auckland yesterday, intends to reside for a time in Auckland and Wellington before looking about for a new farming proposition. His. Accessor at Puahue is a Mr Hemmings, of Tamahere.
