FEATHERED CARUSO

SONGBIRD THAT KNOWS THREE TUNES A song-bird that can pip? a faithful rendering of “dr Man River," “Cornin’ Thro’ the Rye,” and “O, Where, Tell me Where” was the biggest novelty of the National Cage Bird Show, held at the Crystal Palace recently. This remarkable Caruso of the feathered world, which has astounded bird fanciers by its uncanny repertoire, is a native of West and Southern India. It is known as “The Whistling Schoolboy," a literal transUtibn of its Indian name. The bird is the property of Mr Andrew Wilsoh, F.Z.S., of Glasgow, President of the British Budgerigar Society. Experts took a long time to settle its identity, but it was eventually named by Mr J. C. Frost, the wellknown authority on tropical ornithology.. Remarkable Accuracy. “When I sat In Mr Wilson’s office listening to , the bird “putting over Its stuff,” I was amazed at the beautiful tonal quality of its notes,” says a correspondent.
