BIG WOOL SEASON.

FARMERS’ PREPARATIONS SHEARING TO BEGIN EARLY In anticipation of a big wool season farmers throughout the Waimarino, Rangitikei and Manawatu are busy engaging shearers, both blade and machine. Already quite a number of sheds have been booked at Kakatahi, and as far north into the King Country as the Pipiriki Road. Last year there was a shortage of shearers, and in a number of instances the hutuwai was ripe north of the Parapara and had netted a number of first grade fleeces before the shearers could get to work. In this block also the farmers experienced much annoyance with bad weather, sheep being yarded ready for the blades, only to be sent out again to await the appearance of their barbers. This year shearers will commence one of the earliest seasons in the Ohutu block that has been known for many years.
