ANNUAL MEETING OF GORDON CLUB The annual meeting of the Gordon Cricket Club was held in the school room on Monday evening, 28th September. Mr F. Montague occupied the chair, there being a fair attendance of members. The balance sheet showed a credit of £3 8/11. The repoi-t read as follows: The spoi-t enthusiasts of Gordon again appeased their appetite for spoi’t with the bat and ball. The season opened on October 25th, 1924, with a match against Waharoa, which Waharoa won by a narrow margin of one run. As the season advanced the Gordon team met with greater success (owing mainly to general practice and the good feeling- existing in the Club) till at the end of the season it had a record of nine °-ames played, eight of which were won and one lost. The Club is to be congratulated on this performance, especially as it consists of 15 membex-s only. At each of the matches the ladies of the district dispensed afternoon tea or lunch in the proper style. Although F. Brady holds the recoi'd for boundary hitting, the best scoring for the year was put up by A. JBartleet, while the bowling honours go "to Montague Bros. (F. and D.). After the usual business of an annual meeting and a hearty vote of thanks to the chair the meeting was closed.
