THE PLAY TERRIERS v. CITY SENIORS Football in the Piako district was advanced another stage on Saturday iast and some very keen and exciting games were witnessed. The football was of a good standard and promises well for the representative fixtures. The senior game between Terriers and City, both local teams, was played at Te Aroha before a large attendance, and a good, open, fast game resulted, Terriers scoring their only try soon after the commencement of the game by *A. Watson touching down. City tried hard- to equalise, if not improve the score, but were still minus the three points at the end of the game. 1 • F. Goldsbury and N. Young were missing from the Terrier team, and A. Gemmell had to be carried off soon after the game started, and nearing the end of the game they lost the sdfwices of O. Stace.

City were playing without the aid of G. Miller in the early stages, and if he had been there Terriers might not perhaps have scored when they did.

For Terriers S'. Goldsbury, Hughes, Biddos, Porter and A. Watson wer’e the pick of the backs, Dodd, Sleep, Dalton and Mace being perhaps the best of the forwards.

For City Hall, McNeill and Shanley were the best of the backs, and Grattan, Morrow, O’Donnell and Grice were the pick of a hard working pack.

Mr O. Barker controlled the game and gave every satisfaction.

WAIHOU v MANAWARU SENIORS

The game between Waihou and Manawaru seniors, played at Waihou, was of a sterling character and delighted those in attendance. The pace was fast all through and was a duel between the Waihou backs and Manawaru forwards. Some clever pieces of play were witnessed, the handling of the ball between some of the Wai hou backs being a treat to watch. For Waihou Voysey, Stewart, L. Johnson and the full back played good games, and P. O’Donoghue, Capner and Southie were the best of the forwards.

For Manawau J. Magill at fullback played a splendid game, and was ably assisted by Semmens, J. Wright and B. Tretheway. P. and T. NcLaren, P. Magill and Allen Grey in the forwards showed up well. For Waihou the scorers were Capner, L. Johnson and Southie, and Southie converted one try. For Manawaru T. McLaren scored a try, which was converted by P. McLaren, and the same player kicked a penalty goal in the last few minutes. Mr T. Turner ably controlled the game.

Mr A. Whatford had charge of the whistle. -
