TE AROHA TRAFFIC BRIDGE

TALLY OF TRAFFIC The Piako County Council received a letter from the Te Aroha Borough Council at its meeting on Monday stating that a tally of pedestrians and vehicles using the Te Aroha traffic bridge was to be taken over a period of three weeks, and it was suggested that as this tally was for the purposes of the Commission and as the County Council was J interested the latter should co-operate with the Borough in/supplying a man to check the origination of the traffic and its destination.

The chairman said he did not favour taking a tally at this time of the year, which would not show the volume of outside traffic.

Cr. Hughes said the Council had nothing to lose and may gain something 1 by the tally. He moved that steps be taken to obtain a record of the traffic. The chairman said that the hours for the tally should extend from 6 a:m. to 11 p.m. - Cr. Kennedy said that the only object was to determine what proportion of the traffic was County and what Borough. The chairman thought that if a tally was taken for two weeks it should be sufficient.

Cr. Hughes added to his motion that the tally be for two weeks. The motion was seconded by Cr. Kennedy and carried.
