MOTOR CAR OVERTURNS

ACCIDENT AT WAIORONGOMAI On Saturday evening last an accident occurred on the main road below Mr Clarkin’s quarry, when a taxi owned by Mr W. Hammond ran down a bank and overturned. It appears that the self-starter failed to work, and in an endeavour to start the car Mr Hammond and a native pushed it on to an incline and before the steering wheel could be reached the car ran over a bank and capsized. Mr Hammond received injuries to his legs and a severe shaking. The car was slightly damaged, the wings and running boarde being smashed and the glass of the wind-scraen broken.
