DRUIDS’ LODGE

HALF-YEARLY MEETING On Monday evening the half-yearly meeting of the Te Aroha Druids’ Lodge was held, Bro. A. J. Burrows presiding. Nominations for officers for the ensuing half-year were received, the election and installation to take place on December / Ist, when t&e District President, Bro. Lloyd, will officiate. In an address to members.the chairman urged young men to join friendly societies. ( He remarked that all friendly societies held out much benefit but speaking in regard t<s the Druid’s Lodge, Bro. Burrows said that on joining, a member, for a small weekly sum, at Once created an insurance on his life to the extent of £l2O. Besides this there was- the maternity bonus of £6, together with free medical advice and medicine. No better provision was available for any person, especially for those whose income is limited. The secretary, Bro. G. H. Deverell, referred toithe position* of the Lodge. He said that there is a strong financial membership, and the Lodge possessed active members for as. long as 20/ years. He urged on meinbers to seek new members. ' . ■■■;

During the evening several names were proposed. It is expected that on December Ist the membership roll will have mater--ially increased. / ? In connection with the euchre parties ■ held , during the winter, the Lodge donated trophies to the lady and gentleman securing the greatest number of points for the season. .The winners are Mrs M. Timmins and Mr F. Lockyer. ffi It was unanimously decided to pr<£ .sent Bro. W. C. Kennedy, P.D.P., and lan active member for 14 years; with/ a gold medallion suitably inscribed.
