HAMILTON STOCK SALE The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:— At Hamilton on Tuesday we had a large yarding of sheep and pigs, but cattle were few in number. The beef pens were very bare, and values were slightly firmer. Small steers made from £3/5/- to £6/19/-, cows £3/15/- to £5, forward sorts £2/15/- to £3/10/-, store cows £l/5/- to £l/17/6, empty heifers 38/to £2/-. The balance of the yarding was of a nondescript nature.
The demand for fat sheep was steady at late values, wethers making to 29/2, small light ewes 19/10. Lambs were penned in large numbers and met with an excellent demand. No really good lambs were submitted, and very few even suitable for rape. The most forward (shorn) made from 15/9 to 18/-, medium stores 12/1 to 15/4, weedy 6/9 to 9/6.
Pigs were again strongly in evidence, and competition was keen to the conclusion. Baconers made from £3 to £4/2/-, good porkers £2/7/- to £2/17/6, small £2 to £2/5/-, good slips £l/5/- to £l/14/-, best weaners 15/- to £l, small 5/- to 10/-.
