SOCIAL AFTERNOON

TO LADIES OF BENEVOLENT SOCIETY A very pleasant social afternoon was given by Mrs Lawless to the Te Aroha Benevolent Society in Mrs Mulgrew’s tearooms on Wednesday afternoon. The tables were beautifully decorated with greenery and white lilies, and the very dainty edibles with which the tables were laden were artistically set out. f Pleasant social intercourse was enjoyed by those present, and regret was expressed at the departure of so valued a member as Mrs Lawless. Mrs Gordon, president of the Society, tendered the thanks of the ladies to Mrs Lawless for her kindly thought which prompted the giving of such a delightful function. She thanked her for much appi’eciated past services to the Society, and on behalf of the Society wished her health and happiness in the future. The following ladies were present: Mesdames Gordon, Gilchrist, Gibbs, Nicol, Puckeridge, Nicholls, Bruce, Hedge, Fitzgerald, Aislabie, Kenrick, Hunger, Faures, Atkins, Nash, McGirr, Furley, Carroll, Long, Baine, F. W. Wild.
