MORE THAN FRIENDLY
“Very charming!” said the curate, as he stood at the door of the little greenhouse. “I must introduce myself—l'm the curate.” “Oh, good morning,” muttered Mr Jimps, as he Went on potting his plants. “I trust you like your new home in this district?” queried the visitor affably. “All right,” answered Mr J., in a non-commital tone, as he reached for another flower pot. The curate looked at his new parishioner a trifle doubtfully, and with an uncomfortable sort of feeling that he was making little headway. “The people about here are very sociable,” he continued cheerily. “Have you called on any of your neighbours yet?” The flower pot went down with a bang, and J. looked up quickly. “No,” he said, emphatically, “I haven’t. But I’m going to if I miss any more of my coal!”
