YOUNG PEOPLE’S SOCIAL

A most successful and enjoyable -ijpcial wag beld at Mangaiti on Thursday, toraise funds toasaist in paying for gymnasium equipment for the Young Pcoph's Club. Mr P. Finlay made a most efficient M.O , and the mernbe s of the club acted as hosts. Miss Tui Woodroofe and Mrs J, B. Strange (of Auckland) kindly provided the music, "with tho assistance of extras given by Misses Bmales and Strange During the eveuing Hrrold Strange, hon. gynnaslurn instructor to the club, gave a demonstration on the horizontal bar and Roman ring*, aud thi3 was g-eatly appreciated. Miss W'oodroofe charmed all present with beautiful renditions of the favorito songs “ A Perfect Day,” and “ Home, [Sweet Homo ” At supper timo the president (Mr T. Hines) asked the patron of tho club (Rev. Connolly) to say a few words, and in a humorous speech the reverend goo. tleman congratulated the club on its success, as he was told that the proceeds from the evening's entertain, ment would -enable the members to pay .all that was owing on the equipment, and he understood that the clnb aimed at getting the best gymnasium equipment outside Hamilton.
