A COAL CENSUS

TO BE TAKEN ON APRIL 30 Regulations have been gazetted prescribing that the Government Statistician (Mr Malcolm Fraser) shall collect statistics in regard to stocks of coal held throughout the Dominion. The regulations provide that “ every owner (or manager) of premises where coal is usually or at April 30, 1917, held in stocks of five tins or over, whether for uso on the premises or for sale, shall, on request and within such time or times as he may be required by the Statistician so to do, furnish particulars as to such stocks held on such premises on a date or dates to be specified by the Statistician and that, “in order to comply with the last preceding regulation the owner or manager of the premises shall fill in and supply to the Statistician or to any officer authorised by him in writing the particulars specified in the form set out in the schedule hereto, in accordance with tho. instructions accompanying that form, and shall sign the form certifying to the correctness of the particulars entered therein.”
