WAIHI TEAMS BADLY DEFEATED.
A party of Waihi bowlers paid a long-overdue visit to Tc Aroha on Saturday to play an inter-club match. Following are the scores, Waihi players being mentioned first in each game:— Luks, Pendegrast, Green and Whitchurch 7 v. Brown, Hankin, Ngakuru and J. B. Morrison, 48.
Fisk, Morrin, Clark and Sampson 13 v. Malouey, Sherlock, Clothier and J. D. Morison, 33.
Taylor, Morgan, Dusohka and Flet 20 v. Greening, P. Heathcote, By grave and Simson 18.
Layne, Cornes, Lundy and Scandrett 7 v. Hinton, Trewheela, Peterson and Wallace, 42, Waite and McConachie 18 v. Everitt and Craw 26. Totals—Waihi 65, Te Aroha 157. The presidents, Messrs Morgan (Waihi) aud Clothier (To Aroha) exchanged congratulations and hopes for another meeting early next season. At the couolusion of play, Mr J. A. Clothier presented the Clothier Shield to the Waihi Club, one of its teams having won the Goldfields tournament at Easter. Mr Flett, the skip of the successful team, suitably acknowledged the honor, and called for cheers for the donor—the best sportsman in the district, Mr Clothier. The cheers were heartily accorded, with an extra three fer luck. Cheers were also given for the Waihi Club and the winning team.
